It's impossible not to mention this feature of the same Mt Arthur walk. Not so much as a planting recommendation it's too slow and tricky to grow. Just for the magic of its bizarre candelabra stands of pineapple heads. Add peeling bark flashing with orange, a thick self-mulching carpet of leaves and lichen-covered southern beeches tortured like bonsai, and a master Japanese gardener/animator could have been at work.

I collect manure from a sheep property. I shovel out what I need from under the shearing shed. Soak in watering can for excellent fertiliser.

Palmetto Soft Leaf Buffalo is ideally suited as a lawn in many applications.
