The Spiral Aloe may now be rare in its native Lesotho mountains but has become widely available. Adapted to temperate & moist conditions and being sensitive to root disturbance and rot, it seems a bit of a sissy compared to many other succulents. But given perfect drainage, it tolerates cold better than many others – even surviving the occasional snowfall in the wild. As a quick but never large specimen of fascinating geometry, it makes continually interesting company kept nearby as a feature in a pot on a table or bench.
